Health through Art

Health through Art is a project by Cedarartworld. It aims to use the medium of Art as a tool in raising awareness on key health issues.
Many preventable diseases/deaths in Africa can be attributed to poverty/ low standard of living. While treatment and other steps are taken to reduce these, there is a need for empowerment of the individuals and communities.Empowerment to gain control over the social determinants of health.
Interestingly, we see a solution in the hands of the target group. ART. Poverty has not able to stop the spring of creativity from flowing in the heads and hands of these artists and artisan communities. With minimal tools, they are able to create outstanding works of art.
We believe that by creating a market for these artists, we will be able to increase their financial status, leading to an improvement in standard of living and consequently more control over their health status. This will not only affect them directly, but also the families which are dependent on them for daily survival.
The buyer is not left out. You are able to appreciate these amazing pieces as they rest comfortably in your homes, as they decorate your office. You also get to feel and understand the culture/lifestyle of the artists and see art through your eyes and their eyes. Amazing!
